Indicators
The IA Data Drive brings together sets of indicators that describe how children, families, and communities are doing across the state. They originally encompassed ECI Board Approved indicators, and were then expanded to include additional indicators relevant for Head Start community needs assessments, MIECHV community assessments, and routine strategic planning for Iowa’s Shared Visions and Community Development Fund state plan. The indicators have evolved over time to reflect feedback from communities and partners and to align with Iowa’s evolving priorities for early childhood and family well-being.
With input from stakeholders from each of the above programs, the indicators are organized into four domains that tend to reflect the way programs need to group data during their strategic planning efforts—Demographics, Economics, Health and Social Needs, and Services—to help users quickly locate the information most relevant to their work. Additional details on indicator definitions, data sources, and methodology can be found in our IA Data Drive Manual. Community planning tools for a variety of partner groups are also available here, which provide suggestions for how to use the IA Data Drive to meet specific needs and which indicators might be most useful.
During the transition to the new IA Data Drive, the previous version of the site will remain available for a limited time.
