Iowa Child Care Workforce Study Brief 2: Compensation

A major part of the recently-released 2023 Iowa Child Care Workforce Study focused on the state of compensation for early care and education providers in Iowa. The study found that compensation was the primary concern for sustaining our child care workforce; low wages and lack of benefits are inhibiting workforce supply and stability, which directly reduces the capacity for programs to enroll children. Findings from this statewide workforce study suggest a multi-pronged approach is needed to solve this problem.
